2025-05-10 Celebrating Our Students' Success at the 7th IGSS Drama Fest!

We are thrilled to announce that our talented students have excelled in the 7th Inter-Government Secondary School Drama Fest, earning multiple accolades at the recent Government Secondary Schools English Drama Competition! On May 10, our students attended the prize-giving ceremony held at Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School, where their remarkable achievements were recognized.

SEK Debaters Win the Quarter-Final Round of the 14th Inter-government Secondary Schools Debate Competition

The debate team of Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School achieved a remarkable victory in the quarter-final round of the 14th Inter-government Secondary Schools Debate Competition on 3 May 2025. Led by team captain Yazmin Tamrakar (5B), they faced King’s College team on the motion: “Fast food advertisements that are aimed at children should be regulated.” The team won decisively, with a score of 3-0. The debating skill of team captain and other team members, Arsam Saberi (4A) and Mandasari Andrea Stephani (4A) was commendable. FGSS Principal Ms. Wong Pik Wah presented the winner’s certificate to the SEK Debate Team. With this victory, SEK team advances to the Semi-Finals to be held on 17 May 2025, building excitement for their next challenge!

SEK Students Grab Merit Award at Time-to-Talk Competition

Students from Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School won the prestigious Merit Award at the Time-to-Talk Public Speaking Competition organized by the Education Bureau, NET Section on 12 May 2025. This is the second consecutive year the SEK students have won the Merit Award.
The accomplished students—Mandasari Andrea Stephanie (4A), Ali Shiloh Asia (4A), Susita Gurung (4A) and Shivhare Riddhima (2D) received certificates of merit and HK$500 coupons for their outstanding performance. Their speech centered on the theme of resilience, which woven through a timid student’s journey to build her confidence in learning captivated the audience and judges. Their stunning presentation also included multimodality mixed with a play and the singing of the song “Surface Pressure” (Encanto) by Jessica Darrow.

2025-03-22 Cooking Competition Success

Congratulations to our outstanding students, Hasrat from 3B and Shabana from 3C, who won the “I Cook my VEGGIE way” MasterChef Interactor Competition held by the Rotary Club on 22 March, 2025.
During the semi-final, Hasrat and Shabana prepared a delicious crispy almond eggplant, and in the final round, they showcased their designated veggie dish. Their culinary creations received high praise from the judges, including an Italian cuisine chef from The Ritz-Carlton, and a nutritionist.

SEK Debaters Win the Preliminary Competition of the 14th Inter-government Secondary Schools Debate Competition

The debate team of Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School achieved a remarkable victory in the preliminary round of the 14th Inter-government Secondary Schools Debate Competition on 1 March 2025. Led by team captain Yazmin Tamrakar (5B), they faced Sha Tin Government Secondary School on the motion: "The comprehensive assistance scheme for the unemployed should be abolished for abled persons." The team won decisively, with a score of 3-0, and Yazmin was awarded Best Debater. Team members Arsam Saberi and Mandasari Andrea Stephanie also contributed to the win. FGSS Principal Ms. Wong Pik Wah presented the certificates. With this victory, SEK advances to the Quarter Finals on 3 May 2025, building excitement for their next challenge!

Education and Career Expo 2025

On January 19, 2025, the Principal, the Assistant Principal Mr CHAN, Miss Poon, and S3-S5 students went to the Education and Career Expo 2025 in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event showed many educational opportunities and career paths. Students felt inspired to think about their futures. They received an invitation to join the Recruitment Seminars from the Civil Service Bureau. This chance helps students learn about public service jobs and talk with professionals. They can also understand the application process. The visit opened their eyes to new possibilities for their careers.

Ng Teng Fong Scholarship Presentation Ceremony

Thapa Agrim from 5A has been awarded the Ng Teng Fong Scholarship for 2024. This honor, presented by the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, acknowledges his exceptional academic achievements, commendable character, and active participation in extracurricular and community endeavors. The award ceremony was held on 17 December 2024, and it was a tremendous success. Congratulations to Agrim!

Radio drama at Metro Radio

Our Basic Law Ambassadors 繆依彤, 梁嘉珩, 周焯萱, 黃厚文 wrote a radio drama script about the Basic Law. On September 25, under the guidance of Vice Principal Mr.Chan, they went to the Metro Radio headquarters for recording. Metro Radio will broadcast our school's radio drama at the end of October.

SEK Students Shine at Time-to-Talk Public Speaking Competition

Students from Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon) recently showcased their exceptional public speaking skills by winning the prestigious Merit Award at the Time-to-Talk Public Speaking Competition, organized by the Education Bureau's NET Section on 14 May, 2024.

The accomplished students—Mandasari Andrea Stephanie, Ali Shiloh Asia, and Susita Gurung, all from class 4A—received merit certificates and HK$500 coupons for their outstanding performance. Their captivating speech centered on the theme of indigenous cultures and highlighted how these cultural practices contribute to environmental protection. The trio delivered a stunning rendition inspired by the song Where You Are from the beloved Disney film Moana, leaving the audience both informed and inspired.

2024 The Poetry Remake Competition

The Poetry Remake Competition is a cross-curricular activity jointly organised by the English Language Education Section and Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute. The competition integrates literary appreciation and art creation. Students create a two-dimensional artwork in response to one of the selected poems and then write an artist statement in English to explain the ideas in their work.  Congratulations to the prize recipients:

2024 HK Dance Sport Solo Open Competition

We are proud of 6B Jenny Yu for her outstanding results in the 2024 HK Dance Sport Solo Open Competition 4th Stop! Jenny won 5 awards in the 2024 HK Dance Sport Solo Open Competition 4th Stop organized by the DanceSport Association of Hong Kong, China on 14th September, 2024. She was awarded the 2nd Runner-Up in the Single Group Tango for ages 16 and above, 2nd Place in the Single Group Waltz for ages 16 and above, 4th Place in the Single Group Samba for ages 16 and above, 5th Place in the Single Group Rumba for ages 16 and above, and 5th Place in the Single Group Cha Cha Cha for ages 16 and above!
